APS Senate inquiry

A senate inquiry is currently underway investigating the current capability of the Australian Public Service, in particular our ICT and cyber capability. PA members in the APS have been calling out systemic issues in capability resulting from government policy for years; staffing caps, enterprise bargaining restrictions, the rise in outsourcing (now being described as privatisation in stealth) have made the APS less informed and a deficient buyer.

Careers are less stable and many engineers, scientists and ICT professionals are looking for opportunities elsewhere as the private sector offers more attractive conditions for their skill set. Things need to change. Our submission to the inquiry is your voice to parliament, built from member feedback following our 2020 member survey and COVID-19 workplace report.
